This is an authentic Moroccan cooking Tagine made for the souk in Tangier and bought by the local householders. The tagines are not perfect in their formation and have a rustic finish, as they are entirely hand-made in traditional potteries, where they are commonly stored on concrete floors. Small chips to the base and edge of the lid are usual and do not constitute faults. With a 33cm diameter, this tagine should be able to feed a feast of up to 5-6 people. A healthy way of cooking that exotic Moroccan feast or alternatively a stew. Truly a great experience.
Dimensions - Height: 20cm X Diameter: 33cm. As each tagine is hand-thrown these dimensions can vary slightly and are given as guidence only.
We recommend that this tagine is used in the oven at a low temperature below 170 c ( 130 to 150 is ideal for slow cooking) for melt in the mouth meat. To use on a gas or electric stove (not a ceramic hob) you must use the heat diffuser/simmer ring included. Not dishwasher safe.
Please not you will not receive the tagine in the photograph. The hand painted patterns are all different and the photographs are just an example.
Ras-el Hanout Mixed Moroccan Spice 75g
Ras-El Hanout Moroccan spice blend direct from the spice souk in Morocco.
Ras-el-hanout literally means "top of the shop," and is a Moroccan spice blend that can contain more than 30 ingredients. For the Moroccan spice merchant, it is a point of honour to have the most sought after version of this blend.
An amazingly complex mix of aromatic spice and herbal flavours, the ingredients include: galangal, rose petals, black peppercorns, ginger, cardamom, nigella, cayenne, allspice, lavender, cinnamon, cassia, coriander seeds, mace, nutmeg, and cloves.
This is not the simple version of Ras el Hanout found in cookbooks and UK supermarkets; this is authentic.
Essential if you are cooking a tagine, but great in a whole variety of dishes.
Heat Diffuser/Simmer Ring
Essential when using your tagine on low heat on the hob.
